A Toronto Virtual Wedding – Is It for You?

With the pandemic still in full swing, weddings have been put on hold. There are a ton of reasons why you don’t want to wait to get married. All of them are valid, from doing it to appease parents or because you are on a time constraint for a loved one. There are a few ways to have a wedding during this pandemic and to have it safely and a Virtual wedding in Toronto is one of them.

Zoom and other live streaming services have become one of the more effective ways to get married. While in Ontario, you still need everyone to be present (the couple and the officiant). Avoid putting your guests at risk by participating virtually.

By having a virtual wedding you can have up to 1,000 people watching and participating. As the host, you can mute the guests when they get too chatty during the ceremony.  There have been a few different variations of how people have done this, including having three – different cameras on the go. The cameras allow focusing on each person when they speak during their vows.

There are wedding videography companies that can also live stream for your wedding. They provide a link so the guests can join. It’s a little less interactive, but you have a higher quality of production than someone’s phone camera. However, they save it, and you can revisit the link at any time to rewatch your wedding.

So what do you need to do to have toa virtual wedding in Toronto?

It depends on your region. Some states are allowing virtual weddings where everyone can video conference in, and it’s official. However, in Ontario right now, all parties need to be present to be wed.

  • All parties must be in attendance at the wedding: the couple and the officiant.
  • The wedding papers. order online and make sure to do it beforehand because of delays with Canada Post and the three day waiting period
  •  A camera that has wifi capabilities to stream with
  • Wifi so that you can stream if you are somewhere without wifi, you can always use your cellular data plan to tether it to whatever device you are using to stream it but make sure that you don’t run out or overcharge yourself.
  • A backdrop. Something like our Toronto flower wall rental would work well. Zoom offers a free backdrop, but unless you have a green screen, it tends to look off and won’t work well for photos.

A lot of people don’t feel this is a real wedding. They want a big ceremony surrounded by their loved ones, but if you were planning on getting married this year, that’s just not going to happen. That said, it is still completely reasonable to have a Toronto virtual wedding now and later have a ceremony celebrating your love. Neither takes away from the other.

Renting a flower wall in Toronto makes a good backdrop for both the photos and the online wedding video. Toronto flower walls for rent are a very popular wedding decor item even for traditional in-person weddings. Hiring a Professional event company in Toronto like Events 365 ensures that the backdrop for your wedding will impress your guests.

What else will I need for this virtual Toronto wedding to work?

It depends but even for a regular wedding a rehearsal is a good idea. Just to make sure that everything works. It would be unfair to have one guest holding the phone the whole time so make sure you set up a schedule for swapping whos holding it

A tech person to set everyone up. Most of us can figure out how to login to Zoom or whatever else you are using but there’s always that one parent or grandparent who won’t be able to figure it out. Make sure you get them set up beforehand or have someone on hand to walk them through setting it up.

Test the Wifi, if you are going down to city hall to get married do not rely on the wifi they have there to pull you through, remember you won’t be the only one using it. Make sure to test it beforehand.

How can I personalize my Toronto Virtual wedding?

In Toronto, flower wall rentals and Wedding balloon decor are some of the most popular wedding decors. Our Toronto Marquee lighting for rent is a fantastic way to personalize the wedding. Remember because for most guests it’s going to be seen through a camera the added lighting from the Light up letting rental will enhance the viewing experience.

Florists are still providing flowers to many small weddings, they are limited in what they can bring in but their local suppliers should have more popular flowers. If you want flowers at your wedding or even just a bouquet

The background. If you have a backyard those make for a great background but make sure that there is some privacy. Just in case your neighbours pop decide to watch and you don’t really want them in the background of your wedding. Flower wall rentals work well for both indoor and outdoor weddings. A flower wall in an apartment can give the feeling you are somewhere else and hide distracting background and objects in your home.

What software should I use?

Well, that depends on what you are trying to do. If you go with a videographer. You’ll likely be limited to whatever they use. If you are going to do it yourself you’ve got a lot more options. Zoom holds up to 1,000 people but make sure to buy the pro version. The free version only gives you 40 minutes before it kicks you off. Most people have used Zoom before for meetings and other calls and have some form of familiarity with it.  Some people have opted to use facetime but they are limited with the number of people in a call. Hopin is a newer virtual events center that is designed to host large events.

Getting married in a virtual wedding has so many benefits, just like a real wedding. Health insurance, immigration, or even to make then your next of kin should anything happen and make your medical choices.  If you think you’ll need any of these in the next few months before we can have big wedding ceremonies. A virtual wedding might be for you.
