Tips on how to get the most out of your wedding decoration

Here are some tips on how to use your wedding decoration effectively. Many Toronto venues are multi-purpose, which means they are large and great spaces to be transformed into anything you want. However, unless you know a lot about interior design or weddings, you could spend a ton of money on decorations and still have the venue feeling empty and cold.  The mistake here is spreading out your decorations when you should smartly cluster them.

Lighting

Lights transform a room completely. Notice when you are in a restaurant, they use table candles and dim lighting to set an intimate mood. The same can happen at your wedding venue. Try and use a warm colour to reflect warm light to the areas you want highlighted. Having several candles and lights around the sweetheart or head table creates a focal point.

For a large hall, you’ll want a few focal points in each quadrant of the room; the tables will also be highlighted. Using light colours helps create highlights. Having a light coloured tablecloth and chairs. Rent a white flower wall behind the sweetheart table or head table to draw more attention to that area.

The dance floor! An integral part of the venue, however, how do you dress up a floor? Disco ball lights are fun but don’t draw attention to the floor. Consider a light-up Marquee to illuminate the dancefloor, and for great photos. Toronto Marquee lights are less expensive than you think.

The ceiling

When you use hanging flowers or drapery, bring your line of sight down, making the room seem smaller. Make sure to talk to the venue about this first, as they might now allow things hanging off the ceiling.

Use colour to your advantage!

Light colours make a room feel more massive, and dark colours make it feel smaller. Think dark hues and jewel tones. Keep the areas you want hidden dark and light colours as highlights.

The Tables

While the venue will probably provide tables for you, rectangular tables fill a room much better than small round tables; with this, the choices in speaking are limited unless the two people at each end are satisfied shouting across everyone to speak.

Tables should be evenly spaced, so one side of the room doesn’t feel empty. While many people think that tall centrepieces stop the conversation if they are done right, they won’t and still make the venue beautiful. If the room has high ceilings, you’ll want tall centrepieces. Balloon Wedding centrepieces are a practical choice as they can be coloured to change the feel of the room. A more expensive option would have tall flower arrangements.  Tall Centrepieces lower the look of the ceiling while still keeping its grandeur.  Events 365 supplies some of the best Balloon centrepieces and arches decorations in Toronto.

Using decorations to create a flow of traffic.

Dividing the room up to areas helps create cozier spaces. Setting up an “activity” corner where people can sign the guest book and take photos with a flower wall rental is a great way to section off space if you don’t have enough tables to space out the area. Guests will want to take photos with the flower wall rental creating a traffic flow to that area.

A bar and dance floor are naturally high traffic areas. So if you can set it up away from the guests to create a good flow of movement, this creates walkways and naturally breaks the room up into quadrants.

Food stations

Spacing out the food will not only make the room feel cozy, but your guests will thank you for it. Being in a crowded line trying to get food can be a pain, allow your guests to space the line out.  This makes several smaller lines that are for more effective at letting people get the food they want.

Use Popular Toronto Decorations with purpose

A common mistake people make is to try and spread out the decorations. While this does give room unity, you should leave that to table decors such as the linens and centrepieces. Other decor such as wall decorations and string lights should be clustered to bring attention to the focal point, either the dance floor of the head table.
